Due to my condition after my daughter passed away, I stopped living according to my Designer’s blueprint. It took me a long time to realize that I was broken and that until I dealt with my brokenness, I wouldn’t be able to fulfil my life’s purpose. As with the explanation of the warfare maneuvers earlier, the brokenness paralyzed and confounded me. I wasn’t destroyed, but I was unable to live a meaningful life. I felt outflanked and weak.
I call that condition “brokenness”. It’s a state, a particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time. Brokenness, therefore, alters the structure, direction, functioning, and, evidently, the wholeness of a thing or person. Everything that’s not operating in the state in which it’s designed to operate – whether our hearts due to heart break, our bodies, our emotions, or our identity – will affect our functionality. It will halt or interrupt our ability to achieve our life’s purpose.
It's important to note the following:
- Brokenness is not a permanent state.
- Brokenness is not complete destruction.
- Brokenness does not alter the purpose of someone or something.
- Brokenness does not alter the identity of someone or something.
- Only someone or something that is complete, whole, and strong can be broken.
